Today, I finally put two real plants in my office. I was inspired by the art I hung two weeks ago. It all needed to look a little more finished now in honor of the beautiful landscape trilogy that a friend painted.
I'm also inspired by the fact that my five plants at home are all alive now for three years and -- dare I say it? -- thriving! Since I stopped traveling and now talk with them more often, the plants responded. "We are happy to see you home once in a while!" They show me new leaves. They stand taller. First time in my life my plants are my friends and not just slowly browning, parched reminders of too many flights.
Now here's the thing: not everything else is inspiring. On some things I just trudge along and do the best I can. I finally also found a printer stand. Kind of like buying a vacuum cleaner. Boring to shop for and not something I really want to spend my money on or time doing.
Lately, I've had a lot of long days with consulting work and marketing. I've been telling myself every night when I'm tired that I did my best and that it is enough for the day. Enough to trust that life will help me with the rest. And sometimes I still wonder. I just don't know for sure how it will work out. I wonder if I'm doing the right thing. Did I do enough?
Yet, I think this is what I've done now for many years. (Longer than the number of years of the guy whose 40th birthday party I will join this evening.) I think it is possibly why, after three years of trying to find "my" lifestyle, I discovered this winter that I finally have live, happy plants.
The painting and plants look great, I'll have to come and check them out in situ soon !
PS love the additions of pgotos to the blog!

Good Morning Jill, I love the painting that can be seen in your picture, it looks colorful as well as can give you a mind break. Plants always add a "comfy" feeling. If we all could be as peppy and happy as Graysir, our lives would be so easy. Unfortunately it takes all kind of experiences to make us as we are today, but I still say remaining healthly is one of the most important. Graysir has just made a complete circle from the porch, through the front hall, dining room, kitchen, dinette, tv room, back of the tall chair, to top of buffet where he took a big slide and knocked over all pictures. Ah, the life of a happy cat! If we could just be so happy and healthy!!!!!! Have a productive week with bits of breaks. Love, MOM
