Yep, another combo of weeks! I'll be 80 before I know it at this rate...
The five great things:
- More registrations for our Learning Community seminars
- Tax accounting done on time
- Ready to leave on both business and pleasure on time
- Successful hunt for reasonably-priced, New Jill clothes in Chicago. "New" meaning a bit more individual style. You'll see...it comes with finding my own voice these days.
- Inviting Mom to join the hunt in celebration of her 70th Birthday
The less lovely:
Cold germs invaded the minute I let my guard down on holiday in Chicago. Now at my business conference in Atlanta, I'm still entertaining my colleagues with rampant coughing.
Mix of British and American English in new brochure. Ugh! Well, it's still just what I wanted, but I will have to distribute a lot of 'em before the reprint.
Not enough time to write in general. Hope the summer back in Zurich will help me on this front.
Lessons Learned:
By describing my business to others, I feel how my own perspective on it has grown. Taking my own advice to better connect what I do professionally with who I am personally is my greatest challenge at the moment...to be neither too professional or too personal. Mostly I am highly conscious with others that I am trying to bring a new way of communicating to the discussion. Mostly it works. And often it feels awkward when I recognize the difference. Small steps of change, I suspect.
I also gained some new perspectives about people and change from visiting the USA for the first time in a year. What had changed for me -- I really stayed present with my family and friends, did not work at all. (That was my gift of learning from visiting with a friend, Peter, last year.) Yet they all have so many memories of me from other times in my life. I think those memories resist change more than I do!
