Last year, I summed-up most weeks in a reflection. Well, until about Week 44, when I lost the battle among competing priorities for a while. I paid a price for that, by the way, in stress. This year, I must manage differently.
So here's the to first work week of the year:
The good
- Strong business start with new enquiries for my training and for Gibbs & Soell Public Relations that I lead here
- After the holiday closet-cleaning in our office, the New Year started at a fresh pace for the team. We are moving forward now towards something we understand. Step by step. And my own perspective as the leader is also more clear
- Most important, the daily work routine was busy, but reasonable. I still feel engaged and grateful to do work I enjoy. Makes the time run quickly
- I did a good job every day except Thursday, of getting out for lunch at a normal lunch time (Thursday it was 3 p.m.!) and leaving the office just after 6:00 p.m. (Thursday it was 7:45 p.m.). That's a commitment I've made to myself and to show our team it is important, too. I felt healthier for it
- The PWG Executive Committee kicked-off the year also with a strong start on Tuesday night. All nine of us were present. All with ideas and energy. We still managed to end at a reasonable hour. Some of us went later for drinks. All the work of the last months begins to show. I enjoy this team more and more
The bad
- Thursday time management as noted above
- Not much else really. Two days of sun in Zurich helped. Interaction with people I care about helped.
What I learned
That setting the right pace and working hard, but keeping my life is a mindset that I can manage most days. But I already knew this. It's more about when I remember! :-) This was a week more to be grateful for what I have learned already. I am.
