Last week, this blog reached a milestone: "Gifts of Relevance" represents my 100th blog post. I've stuck with it more than a year and can now say -- through a hundred ramblings and ponderings. Special thanks to you: if you are reading this, you've stuck to it with me! A gift of readership.
That, you might guess, represents part of the "good" from last week. But it's hindsight! The good I recognized at the time:
- The client workshop on "Your Leadership Voice: Increasing Influence" because I always learn more when I facilitate. And it is an honor to work with engaged, smart people. This is what I changed careers to try to do.
- The location of the workshop, Montreux, one of the truly beautiful places in Switzerland and my own remembering to actually step out of the hotel and across the street to take a deep breath at the lake before speeding home.
- More progress on our public relations business. A real team beginning to show itself...
- And then I had a break from Friday - Monday to meet a friend in Dijon, France, where they drink wine like water. When's the last time you started the day with eggs poached in a burgundy sauce and a glass of local white wine?
The not perfect:
- Instead of taking the whole day off on Friday, I worked a few hours to be prepared for hiring. Good cause for business. Bad habit from Jill to always think she should "just do that one last thing!"
- Still behind on my personal correspondence. Let's see where this week goes.
What I learned:
I remembered, actually, the feeling of independence and creativity I often experienced when taking short trips by car. The freedom to try a new place (amazing here that you can be in one of the best wine regions in the world with a few hours driving). And I remembered how important a few days away can be for you spirit. How important talking and laughing with good friends is for your health. It's January, perhaps I'll remember this past the winter!
Happy 1st Birthday :-)
