Today, Zurich celebrates Spring through its annual Sechselaeuten parade and burning of the snowman. The parade starts in 20 minutes. At 6 p.m. crowds will gather to watch the snowman explode atop a bonfire, predicting the length of our remaining winter. (I predict it's over already, given today's sunshine and 70 degree temps.) If you want a real explanation of this long tradition, see my blog from last April!
We closed our office at noon. (Most businesses in the city closed the whole day, but our clients mostly worked - and therefore we did too.)
I walked out onto our street with our employees in order to demonstrate we would really close. (I'm infamous for saying we are closed and then staying a few more hours.) I then strolled around Zurich for a while, ate a junk food lunch at McDonalds after passing up at least two dozen grilled brautwurst stands, and sneaked back onto our street.
Outside our office I found our normally serious fountain decked-out as a butcher, which is the guild on our street whose band was loudly practicing for all who would listen - pretty good, too.
I popped up into the office to spend a short while collecting my thoughts, finishing email and to blog these photos I captured along the way.
I'm off now to catch the parade's opening. Hope no one who works for us here reads this! :-)

Those are great pictures!
must of been lots of fun. :)
