Today I heard the perfect description for having a bad day when my friend and follow blogger Helen said, "I had one of those days when I couldn't get out of my own way!"
She hadn't really had such a bad day; she just couldn't seem to get motivated at her normal (very high) energy level.
The quote actually came from her grandmother. Lovely wisdom. I said it was bound to become a staple in my motivation repertoire.
When I have those days, it is usually because I'm tired. I bump into walls of unmotivation: pessimism, ambivalence, overwhelmed feelings, stress. You name it.
Fortunately, this weekend I wised-up: slept, read, spent time with friends like Helen. And laughed.
I also did an incredibily productive amount of good idea generating. Amazing how sleep, friends, and good ideas can go hand-in-hand.
A little humor never hurts either!
