Last Thursday - 19 November - Zurich's holiday lights started glowing for the season, which explains why I first saw these strings hanging in October!
Seemed incredibly early to me, as I'm still in the middle of client projects and seminars and 2010 budget planning. Who has time for this? I mean, really, I'll make my annual scramble for my advent wreath this week - before they are all sold out - and hope for a little time this weekend to bring four boxes of Christmas decorations from my basement. (The same basement where my Autumn-Winter sweaters are STILL stored for last season...) But hanging-out at the Christmas market is still a few weeks away.
I love the holiday fun and festivities and cookies and kitsch. Yet I always thought it was to start AT LEAST after Thanksgiving (this coming Thursday).
So I've NEVER allowed myself a gluhwein before 1st December. Never.
But now how will I walk out of the office into the lovely street for seven more days, see the lights, smell the cinnamon and just walk home?
